OurSQL Episode 132: New and Shiny!

This week we discuss new variables in MySQL 5.6. Ear Candy talks about a problem with XFS performance on a Linux kernel, and At the Movies discusses columnar databases.

@eRadical points out a correction to episode 130 - multiple InnoDB buffer pools were new in MySQL 5.5, not MySQL 5.6.

At the Movies
June Tong of InfiniDB explains at last year's SkySQL solutions day, how columnar databases are applied for large scale analytics and the differences with regular databases. This technology is usually applied in warehousing applications and are a better solution database applications that require to do flexible reporting with lots of aggregations on large volumes of data.
